Why we rebranded
IT WAS TIME FOR A REFRESH
Our previous logo and brand existed in some form for 25 years.
How we see ourselves has changed over the past 40 years. We may be a financial lender, but as a CDFI we’re also an organization rooted in Vermont’s communities.
We wanted to look more like how we act: as an approachable, bold, and modern community partner.
What is it?
The new logo features a honeybee in flight, rising from a plant it has just pollinated.
A bold, playful font puts the focus on “loan fund.”
"Vermont community" sits above in a smaller, more traditional style.
The bee is in motion and active, just like our organization.
Gives us a distinct identity and sets apart from others.
What’s with the bee?
WE’RE GLAD YOU ASKED
Honeybees pollinate, allowing plants to fruit and thrive. Our financing works the same way — capital that helps projects take root and grow across Vermont.
Bees work collectively for the good of the hive. We work for the betterment of Vermont, focusing on the communities that need support most.
A bee is warm and familiar, compared to typical bank symbols. We're a community nonprofit, and that approachability matters across our borrowers, investors, and donors.
That’s not all
BASICALLY, HONEYBEES ARE THE BEST
The honeybee is the official state insect of Vermont, which is a fitting emblem for an organization providing loans and investment opportunities throughout the state.
The infinity symbol in the wings represents our network of investing and financing as a reciprocal relationship.
Honeybees forage within a few miles of their hive. That mirrors our local lending model. Unlike a national or regional bank, we're rooted in and focused on Vermont.
Our designer
We partnered with Vermont-based graphic designer, Lyz Tomsuden, throughout the rebranding process. Lyz helped us articulate our preferences, bring ideas to life, and create a cohesive brand that met our goals and identity.
